First person, crippled in all limbs, to cross Channel

Solo yachtswomen Hilary Lister, 33, has sailed a specially converted Soling dayboat across the English Channel, from Dover to Calais in just six hours.

She is the first quadriplegic person to do so.

Hilary moved the controls on the 8m boat by blowing and sucking through two straws. See Yachting Monthly October issue for details of her preparation.
