Theo Stocker – Editor
Having caught the bug for yacht cruising as a teenager on the rivers of the East Coast, Theo has since explored far and wide under sail – north to the Lofoten Islands, south to Morocco, the Gambia and Senegal, east to the Baltic and the Mediterranean and west to the Caribbean.
He sailed the family Hallberg Rassy 31 for a number of years, but is now the proud owner of a Sadler 29, kept on the Lymington river, from where he and his wife Georgie cruise both sides of the English Channel with their son.
After stints in the Royal Navy and in public relations in the City, Theo combined the best of both worlds and began writing for Yachting Monthly as a freelance contributor. He joined the team in 2014 and has been editing the magazine since 2017.
Katy Stickland – Deputy Editor
With a journalism career spanning more than 20 years, Katy Stickland has worked for local newspapers, the BBC, regional Caribbean publications and Tobago News – the island’s only newspaper.
She ran a marine services company in Tobago with her husband John, living aboard their S&S 34 in Store Bay, before returning to the UK. She previously wrote for the Yachting and Boating World website. Katy is also a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer.
Laura Hodgetts – Cruising Editor
Prior to joining the YM team in April 2020, Laura worked on YM’s sister title Practical Boat Owner for more than seven years as news and website editor.
Laura got into marine journalism through the Dorset Echo newspaper’s Afloat page and was the Echo’s accredited sailing reporter for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, in addition to achieving NCTJ senior news reporter qualifications.
Jack-of-all-trades (master of none!) Laura has passed the RYA day skipper, dinghy sailing level 2, powerboat level 2, windsurfing and kitesurfing beginner, and PADI advanced open water diving courses.
Neil Singleton – Art Editor
Sarah Williams – Sub Editor

After leaving university, he worked on several magazines before joining Motor Boats Monthly in 2014 as News Editor – a title he also held at Motor Boat & Yachting and Boat International, before being appointed as Group Digital Editor of TI Media’s marine titles in March 2019.
