Contest 35S

YM’s veteran boat test guru James Jermain rates this design, launched in 1989, as ‘the best cruising yacht of her times’. She has a splendid mix of performance, outstanding seakeeping, easy handling and accommodation that worked at sea and at anchor. To top it all, she is solidly built and very well fi nished. Features include the huge chart table, an aftercabin with direct access to the heads, good sea-berths in the saloon (lee-cloths were standard), and a large but low forecabin. Her heavyweather handling is exemplary, yet she still manages a reasonable turn of speed in lighter conditions. She was offered with fi n or winged keel.
