Modelled on the lines of a North Sea trawler, the 37ft Banjer is a splendidly stout Dutch motor sailer designed in the late ’60s.

Her small, 450sq ft (41.8m2) ketch rig and powerful, 120hp diesel mean she is more of a motor boat with sails than a yacht, but a bermudian rig option with 805sq ft (75m2) is more of a 50/50.

With high, powerful bows and 12 tonnes displacement, the GRP hull can battle through anything. She is fitted out in teak with up to seven berths in a spacious, deep interior. The build quality was excellent but some of the equipment, such as the gas water heater, willneed to be replaced.

one hundred were built in Holland up to 1981 but production continued in Britai, for a short while, one of the big-rig version.
