Round-the-world sensation Dee Caffari has been awarded an MBE in the Queen’s birthday honours list, it was announced yesterday. Dee said: ‘I am delighted and stunned to have been granted this honour and am greatly looking forward to visiting the Palace later this year to collect my award from Her Majesty The Queen.’

Des Pawson, author of Des Pawson’s Knot Craft, has also been awarded an MBE for his services to the rope industry.
