'Everest' at sea
Geoff Holt has unveiled his plans to be the first paralysed sailor to sail single-handed around the coast of Great Britain in May 2007 in his especially designed Challenger trimaran dinghy.
Described as the ‘Everest’ of sailing for disabled people, it will take Geoff about 35 days to complete the 1,500 miles at sea in his 15ft dinghy, sailing only inches from the water. It will also be a matter of complex logistics for the support teams (both on-water and shore-based) and a feat of personal endurance for Geoff.
Geoff and other members of the Personal Everest team will be exhibiting with his Challenger dinghy at Southampton Boat Show 15-24 September.
