Bruno Peyron sailed maxi-cat Orange II across the line this morning in an attempt to set a new record for the Marseilles-Carthage passage. The start, originally scheduled for yesterday evening, was delayed due to strong winds, but a decrease in the Mistral allowed the giant cat to slip her moorings in Marseilles’ Old Harbour earlier today, crossing the line at 06:13:29 UT.

The current record was set in May 2002 by Steve Fossett in Playstation. Peyron needs to beat 18hrs 46mins 48secs to gain the title.
