Royal Clarence Marina, the newest marina in Portsmouth Harbour, opens for business in March

Royal Clarence Marina, the newest marina in Portsmouth Harbour, opens for business in March. Situated on the site of the Royal Navy’s former victualling yard in Gosport, the marina is conveniently close to the entrance to Portsmouth Harbour and the cruising waters of the Solent. Royal Clarence Marina is part of the £100 million refurbishment of Royal Clarence Yard by Berkeley Homes PLC. New residents have already moved in to some of the 390 homes and when complete the complex will boast offices, workshops, waterfront restaurants and bars and there are also plans for a health club and cinema.

Berths range in length from 11 to 18 metres, and all have power and water points nearby. The marina has 24-hour security and berths will be available on annual licences from 1 April 2003. Ashore there are showers and toilets nearby and it is planned that the bars and restaurants on the waterfront will be open in time for the 2004 season. Berthing rates will be in keeping with other marinas within Portsmouth Harbour.

The two central jetties at Royal Clarence Marina provide over 200 metres of alongside berthing and are available for marine events such as the Cutty Sark Tall Ships’ Races. These berths will also be available for club rallies and events as well as visiting yachtsmen on an overnight or short stay basis.

Royal Clarence Yard is part of the £450 million Renaissance of Portsmouth Harbour. The marina is linked to the centre of Gosport by the Millennium Walkway that runs along the waterfront from the Royal Navy Submarine museum at Haslar, right up to Priddy’s Hard, passing through Royal Clarence Yard on the way. Royal Clarence Marina will also be serviced by the proposed new watertaxi service, which will ply between Gunwharf Quays, the Historic Dockyard, the Submarine Museum and the ferry pontoons of both Gosport and Portsmouth.

Royal Clarence Marina is now taking reservations for annual berths and also enquiries and bookings for rallies, club visits, events and winter berthing. A brochure and price list, together with annual terms and conditions, are now available by emailing enquiries@marinaprojects.com or visit the website: www.royalclarencemarina.co.uk
