Yachting Monthly scoops award for ground-breaking sea safety series
Yachting Monthly’s Crash Test Boat series won Best Innovation at IPC Media’s editorial awards, held last night in London.
The accolade was given for the practical series, which acted out a range of catastrophes to show sailors how to survive disaster at sea. The unfortunate 40ft ketch was burned, dismasted, sank and eventually exploded for a series of videos and features published in Yachting Monthly.
“The Crash Test series didn’t just break new ground in magazine publishing – it also produced brand-new insights and lessons in seamanship,” said Yachting Monthly editor Kieran Flatt.
“Our whole team worked really hard, alongside a wide range of leading experts, to produce this unique series of articles, videos and a fantastic app. We’re really proud of it and delighted that our achievements have been recognisedwith this award.”
Yachting Monthly beat off stiff competition from Look magazine, The Field, InStyle and Women’s Weekly to take the prize.
