The British Marine Federation (BMF) has congratulated Peter Methven, its former President, for the OBE he was awarded in The Queen’s Birthday Honours list for outstanding service to the marine industry.

Mr Methven was President of the BMF for three years, during which time the BMF expanded to a record 1600 members, the industry grew by 8% and five Queen’s Awards were awarded to the marine sector. The OBE recognises Peter’s 40-year commitment to the marine industry and his considerable experience in a range of issues affecting the sector. During his time as President for the BMF, Peter worked closely with members from across the UK and played a strong role in representing the interests of the marine industry to ministers.

Rob Stevens, Chief Executive of the BMF, said: “Peter’s honour in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list is richly deserved. He is a fantastic ambassador for the industry and achieved great success during his time as BMF President.”
