Emma Richards in Pindar Alphagraphics beat Mike Golding in Ecover and Conrad Humphreys in Hellomoto in the Open 60 class in Saturday’s 1,600 entry Round the Island Race.

YM’s features editor Dick Durham sailing with skipper Roy Hart in one of the smallest cruisers in the race: Greensleeves a 19ft Memory Class, came 2nd in the Modern Gaffers class.

‘The boat did well as centre-boarders are not the greatest performers on the wind and it was a dead beat from the Needles to Ventnor,’ said Dick, ‘but we made up lost time by sailing straight over the top of Ryde Sand with a few feet below the bottom.’
