Argo Group Gold Cup won by Team Origin

In the Argo Group Gold Cup final in Hamilton, Bermuda, the UK’s Olympic legend Ben Ainslie won 3-1, adding his name to the King Edward VII Gold Cup. Ainslie and Team Origin also pocketed the first place prize fund of £31,650.

Compared to the Olympics, ‘Bermuda has a lot better atmosphere and I know more people here’, Ainslie commented.

Team Origin (Ainslie and his crew of Matt Cornwell, Iain Percy and Christian Kamp) had a close run with ETNZ/BlackMatch Racing’s Adam Minoprio of New Zealand. Minoprio and his crew Tom Powrie, David Swete and Nick Blackman eventually took second place. Minoprio is the top skipper in the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) rankings and currently heads the World Match Racing Tour.
