Two UK firms have won prestigious DAME awards at METS, the Marine Equipment Trade Show, in Amsterdam.
The DAME awards are awarded annually to the most ground-breaking new product designs across the marine industry.
Cowes-based Spinlock won the safety category for their Deckvest lite, a new design of lifejacket.
Meanwhile Poole-based Digital Yacht won the electronics category for their iAIS, an AIS device which wirelessly links a boat's navigation data to the Apple iPhone, iPad or iPodTouch.
The overall DAME award went to the Italian designers of a porthole that swivels open sideways (see photo), preventing the possible 'intrusion into cabin space' caused by one that swings open.
