A plan to re-stock UK waters with grey whales is afoot

Fifty grey whales could be airlifted from the Pacific to the Irish Sea to ‘re-stock’ UK waters and spark a mammal-watching tourist industry.

Conservationists are divided over the plan: some say the ocean off California can afford to lose some of the species, others that they may not survive in Atlantic waters.

The 40 tonne creatures would travel from ocean to ocean in 12 hours if the plan goes ahead.
