Liverpool Boat Show ticket pledge

UK businesses have pledged to buy more than 10,000 advance tickets for next
year’s inaugural Liverpool Boat Show, reports our sister magazine IBI.

According to Marine Industry Events, the show’s organiser, some 120 private
sector organisations – including legal, banking, property and accountancy
firms – were urged at a presentation at the Mersey Maritime Museum to
endorse the plans and become founding partners.

“The reception we received was unbelievable,” says Rob Mackenzie, managing
director of Marine Industry Events. “To have effectively sold 10,000 tickets
for an event which is still 18 months away is unheard of and shows the level
of enthusiasm which already exists.

“Businesses can see what a great opportunity the show presents.”

Guy Wallis, a partner with law firm DWF, says: “To have a boat show in
Liverpool will be immensely beneficial to us as a business in that we will
be able to entertain clients with an interest in boating without having to
travel to the south of England.”

The 2011 Liverpool show is scheduled to run from April 29 to May 8 at the
city’s Albert Dock. Eastern Airways, Virgin Trains and Guinness are already
formal partners for the event.
