RYA chief executive gets new role

Richard Caborn, Minister for Sport, has appointed RYA chief Rod Carr as an independent member of the Board of UK Sport.  Carr will be joined by Chris Holmes, Britain’s most successful paralympic swimmer, as the newest members of the board.

Carr’s appointment comes after London’s successful Olympic bid and further to his extensive experience of performance management at Olympic level since 1984, achieving particular success at the Games in Sydney and Athens.

Carr said “It’s been an exceptional year for the future of British Sport and in particular British Sailing.  As CEO of the RYA, I look forward to serving on the board of UK Sport and helping to unlock the enormous potential that Britain has to win more medals in 2012”.
