Popular East Coast yachting river is the scene of a ferry collision
Two freight ferries have collided in fog in the popular yachting river the River Orwell in Suffolk.
The Panamanian-registered Anglian Way was steaming down river from Ipswich bound for Ostend, Belgium, the Sapphire, registered in Sweden was steaming up river to Ipswich from Ostend.
After the smash the Sapphire ran aground near Trimley marshes adjacent to the No 1 buoy. No one was injured in the collision and the MCA are now investigating what caused the accident.
