Red Sea survival

A live-aboard couple whose yacht capsized in a late season monsoon spent eight days in their liferaft adrift in the Arabian Sea, Indian Coastguards reported.

Libi Belozerzki, 27, from Israel and her 35-year-old Italian partner Mori Pierpaolo set out from the Maldives bound for the Red Sea before the storm caught them out.

They were rescued by a Belgian tug and taken to hospital in Kochi, India where they were treated for dehydration and exposure to the sun.

This month’s Yachting Monthly (November issue) has a well received liferaft test in which technical editor Chris Beeson and staff photographer Graham Snook spent time in a liferaft during a Biscay gale.
