Royal Navy to rescue stranded Brits

Gordon Brown has sent three Royal Navy ships to rescue Britons stranded by the Icelandic volcano. The Prime Minister said the Navy’s flagship Ark Royal, and HMS Ocean, the navy’s biggest warship would be used to ferry travellers across the Channel.

A third ship, HMS Albion, which is picking up soldiers returning from Afghanistan, who are stranded in Spain, may also pick up other civilian holidaymakers.

Free coach and train travel is also being laid on by the British Government to bring the Britons to Channel ports.
