Musto prize winners

An enthusiastic audience gathered at the London Boat Show to applaud the winners of Musto’s annual cruising log competition, held in association with Yachting Monthly.

Judges, who included YM editor Paul Gelder and Nigel Musto, selected the entry from Susan Payne to receive first prize, which included £1,500 of Musto Performance clothing and a specially-commissioned watercolour painting of the 38ft Westerly yacht Pagos in a jungle creek up the River Amazon.

With husband Adrian and two young sons, the family will continue sailing to Australia via the Panama Canal.

Second prize of £750 of Musto Performance clothing was won by Guernseyman Mick Taylor for his account of a cruise to the Spanish Rias in his 38ft Spray class yacht.

Third place, winning £500 of Musto Performance clothing, went to Sam Longley of Southminster, Essex, for his account of joining a Silhouette rally to Maldon at the age of 12 with a school friend.

The 10 finalists all received a stainless steel commemorative plaque and a log book compiled by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston.
