Did a French marksman pull the trigger?

French marksman Robert Guillemard is credited with shooting dead Lord Nelson at the Battle of Trafalgar in a lost novel by Alexandre Dumas.

The novel, Le Chevalier de Saint Hermine, had been lost since Dumas’ death in 1870, but has now surfaced and an English language version is due out soon.

Britain has always doubted that Guillemard was the man who shot Nelson.
