UK's resident population of bottlenose dolphins protected

The only known resident population of bottlenose dolphins – numbering 130 – based in the Moray Firth in Scotland is now protected by the EU.

The area, along with Cardigan Bay in Wales where grey seals raise their pups, has won protection from the European Court of Justice.

If the UK goverment fails to look after these areas the will face the dock in the EU’s highest court.
