Two passengers missing as Tall Ship goes under

According
to reports from the USA, the Tall Ship HMS Bounty has sunk off the coast of
North Carolina.

The
Coast Guard says it is currently searching for two passengers who have not yet been
accounted for. They add that 14 other passengers have already been rescued.

HMS
Bounty was evacuated earlier today after she lost power while sailing through
Hurricane Sandy – the tropical storm which has brought devastation to the USA’s East Coast from
Florida to New England.

She
was heading from Connecticut to St. Petersburg, Florida when she began taking on excessive water and eventually lost her propulsion 90 miles off Hatteras on the Outer Banks.

HMS
Bounty was built for the 1962 film Mutiny on the Bounty, which starred Marlon
Brando, and was later used in the 2006 film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s
Chest
.
