Sailing veterans will be open to the public

Trinity Sailing Trust’ s two historic trawlers, Leader & Provident will be
in St. Katherine’ s Docks London the weekend of 24/25th September and open to the public.

Leader and Provident, built in 1892 and 1924 respectively, are two of the
last of the famous Brixham sailing trawlers to survive in British waters.
Both are gaff ketch rigged. Leader is 105 ft. long and carries more than
3,000sq.ft of sail and Provident carries 2,750 sq ft of sail.

The Trinity Sailing Trust was established in 1999. Their charitable work
has two main aims: The preservation of their three vessels by providing
them with a worthwhile modern role and aiding disadvantaged young people through offshore sea training. The Three Ships Appeal is their recently launched initiative to raise enough funds to sponsor approximately 700 youngsters a year to go to sea, and to maintain the three vessels.
