Future of Cambria, the last trading spritsail barge uncertain

The future of the last sailing vessel to carry cargo in Great Britain and Northern Europe, the Thames mulie barge Cambria, is looking uncertain. She was last skippered by the late legendary Bob Roberts.

Under the continuing development of the Thames Gateway programme there are plans to build a bridge across Milton Creek, in Kent above which is the Dolphin Barge museum where Cambria is undergoing an interminable restoration.

The Dolphin Barge museum is now seeking a new site and enquiries are being made about re-locating to Queenborough which is also part of the Thames Gateway plan as featured in the current issue of Yachting Monthly.
