Body of an unidentified yachtsman found by fishermen

A yachtsman, believed to be in his 30’s has been discovered floating in the sea 10 miles south of the Nab Tower. Fully kitted out in lifejacket and sailing attire, the body was found by the crew of a fishing vessel on Tuesday morning.

Bembridge lifeboat and a Hampshire Marine Unit were deployed to transfer the body back to shore. The man is clean shaven with short brown hair and 5ft 11ins tall, it is thought the body had been in the water less than 48 hours.

There have been no reports of a ‘Mayday’ for a man overboard according to police. Officers are keen to identify him and have issued a description of what the yachtsman was found wearing which included a Crewsaver lifejacket, a red Henri Lloyd jacket, navy blue Henri Lloyd waders, navy blue Helly Hansen fleece, a beige round-neck tee shirt with a black ring around the neck, red and white checked boxer shorts, dark yachting boots and fingerless gloves.
