GMIV's stove working again for the first time in 38 years

Engineer Henry Pugh, 54, has repaired Gipsy Moth IV’s two burner Primus stove – and brewed up the first pot of coffee on it since it was last used in 1967!

United Kingdom Sailing Academy project manager John Walsh sought help from a web forum – www.spiritburner.com – to get the stove repaired.

Henry from Southampton, saw the email and came forward. ‘Once the burner was cleaned of paint it worked perfectly,’ he said.

The UKSA now own the boat and along with YM are raising money to restore her for a circumnavigation in 2006.
