New documentary reveals salty side of star

Film star Marlon Brando became a keen sailor after making the movie Mutiny on the Bounty, a new documentary on the iconic method actor reveals. He enjoyed sailing around the islands of French Polynesia by moonlight.

Later he spent his fortune on constructing a school in Tahiti to teach locals marine biology, but the buildings now lie abandoned under palm trees. The documentary features never-before-seen footage of Brando and interviews with, among others, Martin Scorsese, Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, James Caan, John Voight and John Travolta.

The documentary, Brando, premieres at the Cannes Film Festival on 19 May and will be broadcast on film channel TCM on 23 July.
