An astonishing 95 per cent of Poland's exploding yacht market is ear-marked for export - much of it to the UK. The East European country's yacht building industry is expected to expand by 22 per cent by 2016, according to a report released by consulting firm KPMG, reports IBI Magazine.
In 2013, Polish yacht sales were worth around £25.36 million. With the projected increase, over the next three years the country's yacht market will expand to close to £31.17 million.
In its report, KPMG estimates that the number of potential consumers of luxury goods in Poland will increase from some 786,000 in 2013 to around 963,000 three years later.
According to figures released by the Polish yacht industry association Polboat, as much as 95 per cent of the country's yacht output is intended for export sales.
Meanwhile, market optimism is tempered by local yacht industry players who are split on the issue. According to a survey carried out by the consultancy firm, 50 per cent of the manufacturers active in the Polish yacht industry believe that the market situation is "good" or "very good".
