More old sailors slipping beneath the waves

Former Royal Navy sailors are increasingly choosing a burial at sea, a funeral company reveals. Up to four ex-Senior Service sailors are buried at sea each week from Portsmouth alone.
Around the country too, a small - but growing - number of boat charter companies are adding such services to their mainstream operations.
Now a new 'water soluble ash container' has been produced for those wishing to commit their loved one's remains to the deep after they've been cremated.
Such burial containers can also be used inland, on rivers, lakes or even waterways, Tutill Remembrance Items report. They have produced an information sheet that the general public can ask for from their local funeral director. The sheet gives details of boat charter companies, and other organisations - such as the Royal Navy - which carry out such funerals.
