Two people died and one was injured when their 'pleasure boat' capsized off South Gare on the River Tees.
Humber Coastguard were alerted when a bystander made a '999' call after witnessing the capsize.
Lifeboats from Hertlepool, Teesmouth, and Redcar were called out as was a rescue helicopter from RAF Leconfield.
