A 50-year-old yachtsman was found in the Shipping Lanes in Mid-Channel after the steering on his kit-boat failed.
He had constructed the aluminuim boat and set off from the Solent bound for Alderney.
But when his wife had not heard from him she alerted the Coastguard. The Yarmouth lifeboat towed him back to the Isle of Wight.
