Very interesting video on steering without a rudder. Back in the early 70,s I sailed a Hurly 20. To overcome loosing the rudder I fitted a gudgeon and pintle to the stern near the centreline. Then I built a rudder out of marine ply which could be broken down to the blade, stock and tiller, making it very easy to store in the cockpit locker. Nowadays with autopilots and the higher stress on the rudders of new designs this could be made very substantial.
