Bowman 40 (new style)

When Bowman Yachts, recently merged with Rival, launched its first new design in 1987, there was less of Laurent Giles’s elegance and more of Chuck Paine’s chunky, go-anywhere good looks. She is an uncompromising long-distance cruising yacht, semi-custom built to the highest standards with lots
of excellent details. There are en suite cabins fore and aft, with a large saloon amidships. The galley is huge, though a fair amount of storage is taken up by the engine, which is installed unusually far forward. She handles well and has a comfortable, long-legged performance.

LOA 12.17m (39ft 9in), LWL 9.75m (32ft), beam 3.84m (12ft 6in), draught 1.5m (4ft 9in),
displacement 8,620kg (19,000lb). YM Test Report May 1988.
