Seacock safety discussed at Cruising Association

A leading marine surveyor will be giving a lecture about the ‘nightmare lottery’ of seacock safety at the Cruising Association’s Limehouse, East London HQ on 16 November at 7pm.

Paul Steven’s lecture follows Yachting Monthly’s six month campaign to get standards of through hull fittings changed for the better.

Stevens, a founding member of British Marine Surveyors of Europe, is ‘incredulous’ that many boatbuilders are fitting out yachts with brass ball valve-type fittings more suitable for bathrooms than boats, instead of bronze.

‘It’s a good chance for anyone to see some of the dodgy seacocks that I’ve come across,’ said Paul.
