Much still to do before Europe's biggest on water show

Today Southampton’s Mayflower Park, seen here, bears no sign of the maze of stands and stages that will go to make up the Southampton Boat Show. The only sign that Europe’s biggest on-water boat show is shortly taking place here is the temporary marina being pieced together on Southampton Water.

While wandering around the newly-installed pontoons Andrew Williams, managing director of National Boat Shows, said ‘In all the excitement in the run up to the Show, we almost lose sight of how much time and effort goes into creating the PSP Southampton Boat Show. We forget that for the rest of the year I wouldn’t be able to stand where I am now, and more importantly, neither would our visitors!’

Walking with him was Frank Dixie, managing director of show sponsor PSP. ‘In just three short weeks the Show kicks off and this whole area will be bustling with boats, exhibitors and visitors,’ said Dixie. ‘I’m always astounded at how much is done in such a short space of time in order to create the fantastic Show that we all know and love, and I’m really looking forward to the ten days of the Show.’

The PSP Southampton Boat Show starts on Friday 11 September.
