One time enemies now united in remembering Nelson

Spanish naval vessels will be part of the commemorations held to recall Nelson’s victory at Traflager, at Cadiz on 21 October.

At 8am on 21 October Nelson’s famous signal ‘England expects…’ will be raised aboard Victory, and a memorial service will take place on
board at 8.45am, to commemorate Lord Nelson’s Battle of Trafalgar 200 years ago.

At 11am wreaths will also be laid at Nelson’s tomb in St Paul’s Cathedral. Spain will lead commemorative events in Cadiz and off Cape Trafalgar with the Royal Navy fully represented.

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will be attending a Trafalgar Night dinner on board Victory. Prior to dinner she will light the National
‘Trafalgar Weekend’ Beacon, witness a special Beat Retreat by the
Band of HM Royal Marines and the firing of a theatrical 52-gun
night-time broadside from Victory.
