Padstow RNLI rescue four people on board

A yacht’s sails were blown out in heavy winds off Cornwall.

In heavy rain, an RNLI lifeboat went to the aid of the crew on the 45ft yacht off Padstow.

The RNLI said weather conditions made the rescue a slow process, taking a total of four and a half hours to tow the yacht back into Padstow.

The yacht’s propeller was also damaged due to a rope around the blades.

A spokesman said: ‘They had no sail power due to the sails blowing out.’

The rescue was complete at 5pm on Friday afternoon (17th August). Nobody was injured.
