The Harbour Master of a South Coast port is threatening huge mooring fines

Chichester Harbour chiefs are coming down hard on yachtsmen who do not pay their dues – instead of giving them several warning letters they are going to fine them after just one warning.

For an 8m boat this will mean a fine of pounds 146.50 on top of their pounds 45.50 harbour dues.

The harbour authorities are irritated at time wasted in checking to see if harbour due plaques are paid and displayed.
