Northshore fleet have a ball in rainy Cherbourg

The Northshore fleet of 30 boats gathered at Port Chantereyne marina, Cherbourg, for three days of racing and socialising at the end of May. The weather was grey and wet but that didn’t dampen the atmosphere at the event.

Day two saw an early start for skippers and crew who were busy preparing their boats for what was looking to be a wet and windy race. With 11 boats gathering outside La Digue, the outer harbour wall. The start promised to deliver some spectacular shots of the fleet starting in a 30 knot south easterly breeze.

A Southerly 135 took line honours, completing the 12 mile course in just over two hours, quickly followed by Vancouver 34 Dream Weaver and Southerly 115 Dancing Bear.
