Deal announced four days before OSTAR

Elite Automotive Systems Limited, has announced it will become an Associate Sponsor of Katie Miller Yacht Racing.

Katie Miller is one of the rising stars in single handed offshore racing and won the prestigious Raymarine “Young Sailor of the Year” award in 2006 following her round Britain voyage to raise £10,000 for the Ellen MacArthur Trust.

Katie also won the blu Qube 1000-mile race in 2008 in her Figaro II yacht “Hot Socks”. The race, was Katie’s first single-handed race over such a large distance and the 500-mile leg from Kinsale to Santander qualified Katie and Hot Socks for the Ostar 2009 race.

Elite joins Southampton Solent University as an Associate Sponsor. The main sponsor for the race, which starts on 25th May 2009, is blu Qube a business accounting Software Company.

Dee Caffari, the first woman to sail single handed, non stop around the world in both directions, officially renamed the boat as blu Qube in February 09 at the Royal Southampton Yacht Club.

Mark Holmes, Elite’s Business Development Manager, stated, “The sponsorship opportunity with Katie Miller Yacht Racing was too good an opportunity to miss.

Katie and blu Qube are presently undergoing sea trials and training for the race in and around Portland and the distinctively liveried boat can be seen regularly in the Solent. The boat is based at East Cowes.

Katie said, “The deal with Elite Automotive is a major boost for my campaign. I now have just one Associate Sponsorship place left which I hope to fill before the race starts on May 25th”

The race can be followed on the Ostar website www.ostar2009.co.uk as each boat will be fitted with a tracker. To find out more about Katie Miller Yacht Racing visit www.katiemillerracing.com
