Chichester's recent history documented

An exhibition is being held to celebrate 40 years of the Chichester Harbour Conservancy.

It will be held at the Emsworth Museum each Saturday and Sunday in September and will catalogue the conservancy’s work since its 1971 founding.

Photographs (such as the one above) and objects trace the key moments in wildlife, access, communication, facilities and harbour patrol.

Linked to the exhibition is the website www.mychichesterharbour.co.uk, which features anecdotes from people who have lived, worked or played on or around the harbour.

The conservancy was formed by an Act of Parliament after pressure from residents and harbour-users and uniquely it manages both the harbour authority and the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The exhibition is open on Saturdays 1030-1630 and Sundays 1430-1630.
