A single-handed yachtsman has hit rocks off Dodman Point

A solo yachtsman on passage from Lagos in Portugal to Plymouth ran agound on rocks off Dodman Point, Cornwall.

His 40ft wooden yacht, Aldarion, was then towed by Fowey lifeboat clear of the point.

The Coastguard received a Mayday broadcast from the yachtsman who thought he may be at one of two points. DF bearings were taken from his broadcast via two different aerials and once plotted Brixham Coastguard found him at Dodman Point.
