Pub's risqué idea for regatta week revealed

The Waterside pub in Cowes could be turned into a lap-dancing bar for Cowes Week this summer, according to local press reports.

Although no application has been formally submitted, the pub’s manager, Keith Lunn, has reportedly approached authorities with initial plans.

Sgt Julie Cocks, of Cowes Police Station, said at a meeting of Cowes Town Council, “We can’t say no to the plans outright because there has to be due process, but we can add conditions.

“For example, we can agree to the Waterside becoming a lap-dancing bar, but we can insist on CCTV, or a certain number of people on the door.

“I’m concerned about the type of clientele a lap-dancing bar would attract and the public order problems it could cause.”
