Schoolboy skipper talks to BBC

After crossing the start/finish line off the Lizard yesterday to become the youngest ever circumnavigator, Mike Perham hugged his Dad (pictured) and told the BBC’s Alison Harper ‘It’s beginning to sink in what I’ve done.’

His efforts were put into perspective by Craig Glenday, editor-in-chief of Guinness World Records, who said ‘Even the most experienced of sailors would be tested by the mental and physical stamina required to achieve a record of this magnitude.’

If you want to see British sailing’s latest record breaker, get down too Gunwharf Quay in Portsmouth on Saturday at 1100 when there will be a reception ceremony for the 17 year-old from Potters Bar.
