An unclaimed car on a cross-Solent ferry sparked a massive sea search on Thursday.

Four lifeboats, a police launch, a harbourmaster’s launch and a helicopter searched the Solent between the Isle of Wight and Portsmouth – the route of the ferry.

The local sea temperature is 9 degrees Celsius.
