For those wanting to make the most of a delightful weekend in Lymington, there is an optional social event on the Saturday evening.

The Bluewater Open Boat Weekend brings together a range of offshore cruising boats and long distance cruising experts – all with ocean crossings and circumnavigations under their keels. The aim is to inspire those thinking of taking up the blue water liveaboard life.

Boat size versus budget; centre cockpit or aft cockpit; mono or multi? These are all questions that will affect your choice of boat, and therefore your experience of sailing around the world. As well as viewing boats that will suit almost any budget, there is the chance to talk about practicalities like refits, sails, rigging and boat equipment, while mixing and chatting with experienced offshore cruisers.

There will be a series of seminar presentations and discussions about how to embark on the bluewater dream. Cruising skippers who have been there and done it, will share their personal experience with the visitors in one-to-one chats and group discussions. So if you have pondered about then these are the questions the Bluewater Open Boat will discuss.

If you’re even considering making blue water cruising a part of your future, you can come along and find out what lies beneath the palm trees and white sand: find out what’s actually involved.
