METS' DAME Awards

Two British marine companies have won DAME Awards at METS 2010. Global Marine Tracking Systems and Spinlock topped the Lifesaving and Safety Equipment and Marine Electronics categories respectively, with three further UK companies receive special mentions at the 20th anniversary awards ceremony.

Following the announcement that 21 UK companies had been nominated for the awards, Rob Stevens, British Marine Federation CEO said: “I am absolutely delighted to see the UK continue in its tradition of design innovation, with two category winners and three Special Mentions and a wealth of other strong entries. Congratulations to both Spinlock and Global Marine Tracking Systems on their awards.”

BMF members Garmin Europe and Halyard were recognised by Special Mention for their GPSMap 720 and PureGen products, with Spinlock adding to its success list with a Special Mention for the XXCO812 Powerclutch. Global Marine Tracking Systems was awarded for the ‘Jet-trak’, which monitors jet-skis and enables remote disabling. Spinlock was announced as category winner for the Marine Electronics Division with its innovative ZS RopeSense, a device that senses the load strain being put on ropes.
