Royal Southern YC raises 56K

The Royal Southern Yacht Club raised £56,000 for the Help For Heroes Charity, at a Gala Dinner held at their waterside club-house at Hamble on 18th April.

Over 250 people attended the Black Tie event, including Bryn and Emma Parry, the founders of Help For Heroes Royal Southern members and guests enjoyed a four course dinner and were entertained with excellent music from a live band and DJ and also by 16 year old Natalie Grace, one of the UK’s youngest artists to achieve a platinum disc, when she was just 13. Natalie’s rendition of ‘Heroes’ brought her a standing ovation.

Top Auctioneer, Nick Bonham, persuaded the guests to bid for some fantastic auction lots, which included a day on a Royal Naval ship, holidays in Cape Town and the South of France and a walk-on part in Coronation Street.

Quite a few people liked the idea of visiting the Rovers Return and the Coronation Street lot alone fetched £1200.

A great night was had by all, with a total of £56,000 raised for Help For Heroes.

Club Commodore, John Beardsley, said: “It was one of the most memorable nights in the Club’s history. A great success, noted not only by the amount of money raised, but also by the smiles on people’s faces as they left.”
