To accompany Tom Cunliffe's Expert on Board feature on sextants - Shoot the Sun - running in the current, July, issue ofYM, we have two films of Tom demonstrating his sextant.

Tom shows you how to use the instrument, how it works and how he came by his own, revealing that it was given to him in 1973 by his first sailing school boss, before Tom sailed away to Brazil with his wife.
